Booking, prices and tips

How to book a padel court in Cape Town

Most Cape Town venues take bookings through the Playtomic app, where you can see open slots, pay and even join public matches at your level. A few venues also take direct bookings. Many venues on Playtomic let you cancel up to about 12 hours before your slot, but check each venue’s policy.

How much does padel cost?

Prices vary by venue and time of day. According to Cape Town Magazine, rates range from about R75 per hour off-peak at the cheapest venues to R500 or more at premium locations, with most courts sitting around R320 to R400 per hour. Because padel is played in fours, that usually works out at R80 to R100 per player. Racket hire is widely available if you don’t own one yet.

Tips for choosing where to play

  • Book peak slots early. Weekday evenings and weekend mornings go first, often days ahead.
  • Think about the wind. Cape Town’s summer south-easter can make outdoor padel a lottery. Covered and indoor courts are worth the premium on windy days.
  • Play at more than one venue. Glass bounce, court speed and surroundings vary, and variety makes you a better player.
  • Use Playtomic’s open matches to meet players at your level. It’s also the fastest way to build a reliable rating.
